Prijs voor Eddy Determeyer
Eddy Determeyer, die op deze site al talrijke artikelen publiceerde, heeft van de Association for Recorded Sound Collections Award in de categorie 'Excellence in Historical Recorded Sound Research' een award ontvangen.
ARSC Awards Program stelt zich ten doel erkenning en aandacht te schenken aan 'the finest work now being published in the field of recorded sound research'. Determeyer ontving de prijs voor de publicatie van zijn boek 'Rhythm Is Our Bussiness: Jimmie Lunceford And The Harlem Express'.
Dit zei jazzcriticus Dan Morgenstern (tevens directeur van New Jersey's Institute of Jazz Studies en auteur van het boek 'Living With Jazz') over Determeyers publicatie: "The first detailed study of one of the swing era's most important bands and the first biography of its leader, Jimmie Lunceford. This is a most welcome and significant contribution to the literature of jazz, to our understanding of a vital period in jazz history, and to the music of an outstanding and unique ensemble that was emblematic of the swing era."
