"Years ago Oscar Peterson recommended me to his record company and I made a record. And there's no doubt: he is one of my heroes of the piano. But no more than Nat King Cole, Errol Garner. Because these men played with two hands. And when they came to play the piano, they brought the whole band with them. Even though they had bass and drums, they were thinking in terms of the harmony, the melody, the rhythm, the excite-ment and the joy. The complete orchestra experience."
